Āliyah Husna aka THEMPRESS (they/them) is a cultural producer, DJ, presenter, educator, writer, and community facilitator from London. Passionate about community building through the arts, Āliyah believes in the power of connection and creation, accessible education, collective care, documenting and storytelling, spirituality and wellness as tools for radical change. With a decade of work across grassroots creative spaces, they are an advocate for queer, disabled, and global majority communities in music and beyond.
Āliyah is Community & Education Manager at Voices Radio, a facilitator at the Good Night Out Campaign for safer nightlife, and co-founder of queer-POC-centred bass music collective Bumpah. As a DJ, THEMPRESS's high energy sets rooted in UK bass, queer rave, and global club sounds has seen them play at Glastonbury Festival, Printworks, Fabric, Dour Festival, Drumsheds, and Boomtown. As a cultural curator and presenter, their work has been featured with the likes of Southbank Centre, BBC Radio 6, NTS, Crack Magazine, University of the Arts London, Dialled In, and Resident Advisor.
