KMAT’s captivating presence and charismatic energy on stage have made her a notable DJ/Producer within the highly competitive Amapiano scene. Born Koketso Mathabathe in the vibrant township of Soshanguve, Pretoria, she grew up surrounded by music and was a choir member for most of her schooling years. That admiration for choral led her to find her true passion behind the decks.

KMAT commenced her professional career in 2020 and has consistently grown since. Towards the end of 2022, she released her aptly-titled debut EP, ‘Luminus Flame’ through Felo Le Tee’s The Empire Worldwide. The gleaming project featured club bangers like ‘Jobe’ and ‘Bafuna Mina’, with Sino Msolo, 031Choppa, 2Woshort, Stompiiey, Keynote and Thabza Tee appearing as guests. Notably known for her collaboration knack, KMAT has gone on to work with spearheaders such as DJ Maphorisa, DBN Gogo, Khanyisa, DJ Stopper, Thuto The Human, Cowboys, and Boohle, amongst others.

Besides her studio works, the entrancing DJ/Producer has delivered memorable sets and infectious performances in her home country of South Africa and abroad. The globally renowned publication DJ MAG named her one to watch for 2024, and she was nominated for a similar category at the Beatport Awards. This international recognition was further solidified by the success of her viral 2024 smash hit “MKK” - which she released independently. A high-spirited force, KMAT’s star power continues to shine brightly as she pushes boundaries and challenges herself artistically and sonically, as shown in the 3 step-leaning “QMA”.
