Factory People & Gharam Electric; Co-Founder & Composer (Lebanon)
Summit Session: Navigating the Music Industry in the MENA Region
A staple of the Lebanese music and culture scene, the visionary Wassim Bou Malham, who has been an active & prominent artist, curator and inside man to the fabric of Beirut’s nightlife for the last decade, has gained notoriety from the local and European success of his synth-rock group Who Killed Bruce Lee (signed to Sony music / Roughtrade) with notables performances at WDR Rockpalast & ZDF Bauhaus, all the while shaping local Lebanese dance culture through co-founding the nightlife juggernaut Factory People, bringing to life the biggest clubs and club nights in the Middle-east.
Bou Malham embarked on a quest to discover the “sound of his generation”, leading to the inception of the Futuro-Arab sound of his project Gharam Electric: Sexy contemporary Arabic music with unique vocal melodies, and infectious synth hooks, that transcend and defy genre and microcosmic music cultures.
